COACHING IS NOT:

CONSULTING - Similar, but a coach stays with the client to help implement the new skills, changes and goals.
THERAPY - Your work with a coach can be therapeutic, but it is not therapy. The focus is to identify target performance and develop strategic actions to move toward a predefined goal. Coaches do not deal with underlying "issues" or focus on the past.
SPORTS - Professional coaching is not competition or win/lose based. Coaches focus on strengthening skills, not helping beat the other team. Coaching looks for win/win solutions.
BEST FRIEND - Friends are great. But is your best friend a professional whom you trust with the most important aspects of your professional life? Have both - friends and a coach.
TRAINING - The trainer's job is to provide a structure for learning a specific skills set or body of information. Coaching is much more about the client's agenda and goals. While specific skills are taught, the pace is set by the client.
